With summer in full swing (the summer solstice was on the 21st this month, by the way!), it’s officially the best time to have your roof repaired or replaced. It might come as a surprise to some, since temperatures can get sweltering, especially on top of a black-shingled roof. However, summer actually provides a necessary reprieve from winter snows and spring rains. Let’s delve into some of the reasons why right now is the time to get your roof repaired.
Spring Has Sprung
Spring means rain here in Fitchburg. With March and April marking some of our most precipitous months, things are finally starting to dry up. That’s good news if your roof is failing. Get in touch with a roofing contractor while the sun is out. After all, we get more rain than most of the nation, so you’d better take advantage of the dry-season window (did you know that we usually get about 47 inches of rain per year, while the United States averages about 40 inches per year?)!
Fall Is Full
Folks often wait too long to have their roofs inspected, repaired, or replaced, and that can cause some major complications. If you wait to have a roofer over to fix up your roof, you could end up with costly damage to your home. As we move through summer, more and more folks will take the opportunity to take care of their roofs. It’s smart to jump on the bandwagon now, and schedule your roof repair before you can’t book a contractor.
Winter Is Coming
After all, winter is coming (pardon the Game of Thrones reference). It’s true, and you know as much as most, winters can be harsh here in Fitchburg. Fun fact: we get about three times as much snow as the national average (Fitchburg averages 76 inches of snow per year, while the U.S. receives about 26 inches on average). Snow can halt repairs altogether. Plus, snow is heavy. So if you have a problem with your roof, you’ve got a significant problem, and it’s a problem that’ll have to wait until things thaw out. It’s unsafe to work on a roof that’s caked in snow and ice, and it’s downright difficult. So, if you wait too long, your home will have to sit and suffer the consequences. Be prepared to fix leaks with a pail and multiple trips to the attic. Or, if you prefer, you can just make sure that your roof is prepared for our aggressive, snowy winters.
